It is time again for that yummy box full of goodies from Kentucky! I was so excited to see the big pile of items that they sent this month. Typically you get about 4 items per box but this month you got 6!
It is probably my favorite box yet. The guys that own and run Our Local Box are always putting together a good mix of items!
Little Eatz (Louisville, KY)- These little cookies are made for both humans and dogs. They owners were always giving their dog human food so they came up with these cookies that are safe and tasty for both! Retail Value- $5
Robbie Red Tea (Louisville, KY)- This bottled watermelon mint organic tea is a gold medal winner at the North American Tea Championships. Retail Value- $2
Half-Peach Vegan Bakery (Louisville, KY)- This is an energy bar made from fruits, seeds and oats. Retail Value- $4
Louisville Vegan Jerky Co (Louisville, KY)- I am a big fan of jerky so this one will be yummy! It is sriracha maple flavor and made from soy. Retail Value- $6.50

Scremin' Mimi's (Lexington, KY)- This is a not too hot flavor that is said to round out the flavor of any food. Bring out the tortilla chips! Retail Value- $4.25
The value of this months box is $29.50. Add the shipping costs (costs you nothing) and you are over the $30 price tag. But honestly it is way worth the money to get all these awesome goodies from Kentucky!
I have a love of monthly subscription boxes. It is like someone thinks of you each month and sends you some goodies to brighten your day. I welcome your comments, thoughts, and ideas.

Bourbonq (Louisville, KY)- Pappy's XXX White Lightening BBQ sauce. Of course they have an awesome label..."Ingredients: If We're Not Tellin The Revenue Boyz- We're Not Tellin You. Spices and Bourbon Alcohol (The most the feds will allow!) Enjoy "A Nip of Goodness From the Hills" That Starts- Oh So Smooth- and Finishes with Just a Kiss of Southern Love" It goes on to say under the nutritional info that if you are that concerned about it then you should probably be eating tofu. Retail Value- $7
Sassa Bella Body Care (Harrodsburg, KY)- All natural lemongrass spearmint energizing bar soap. I love the scent but it smells like a boy scent so I am going to be passing this one on to my dad. Retail Value- 6
Departure Records (Louisville, KY)- Bonus Item! This group is The Ladybirds and the album is Shimmy Shimmy Dang! I love that name and can't wait to add this on my playlist. Retail Value- $10
The value of this months box is $32.50 so you are definitely getting your money back for the $30 price tag.
This was a great grilling theme box for July! Do you get Our Local Box? If so, what do you love/not love about it?

I was very excited to see my Our Local Box arrive in the mail the other day. I love those boys from Kentucky that sent me another box to review. So what yummy things came out of Kentucky this month?
Bluegrass Soy Sauce Company- From Louisville, KY this soy sauce is aged in repurposed bourbon barrels. Yummy! Retail Value- $6
Bourbon Barrel Foods- Pure Cane Sweet Sorghum straight from Louisville, KY. But what exactly is sorghum? It is a syrup that can be used in the place of molasses, honey, or syrups. Retail Value- $12
Sunflower Sundries- Grits! Grits! Grits! What southerner doesn't love grits? Well me, but my fiancé does! Organic Heirloom Hickory King Corn Grits from Mt. Olive, KY. Retail Value- $5
Bourbon Barrel Foods- Bourbon Smoked Pepper from Louisville, KY. Pepper smoked in Bourbon Barrels? Yes Please! Retail Value- $9
What a great mix of items this month. And I love that they sent a recipe that uses all the items. I can't wait to try it out. So a 1 month subscription is $30 and the value of this box is $32. You get more than what you are paying for and it is all yummy Kentucky stuff!
Do you get Our Local Box? If so, what do you love/not love about it?
As a little bonus this month there is a recipe card (not pictured) that looks amazing! The recipe is for Braised Beef Kalbi with Soft Grits and Scallions. The best part is that the recipe calls for all the items in your box. So what are the items that make this recipe?

Our Local Box- May 2013
I thought the concept behind Our Local Box was awesome. They send out a box each month that is filled with Kentucky items. I liked that it wasn't all beauty or all food. It is all items from Kentucky! And Kentucky makes some awesome things besides Bourbon. So the theme of this months box is "Derby" since the Kentucky Derby was not too long ago.
This box company was founded by Dan and Jason Lee and I think they have a great idea with local only items. This would be perfect to explore Kentucky or if you used to live in Kentucky and moved away. This will give you a taste of home. So what came in my Our Local Box?
Cellar Door Chocolates- Banana Pudding Fudge! I don't know what genius thought of this idea but it is brilliant! Straight out of Louisville, KY Retail Value- $8
Elmwood Inn Fine Teas- This is Cheery Rose Green Tea flavor and it smells AMAZING! Straight out of Danville, KY Retail Value- $10.50
Rituals By Nature- Magik Skin Balm is formulated with olive oil, organic beeswax, cocoa butter, lavender oil, vitamin E and dragons blood. Coming from someone who makes their own bath products these ingredients sound perfect together. Straight out of Florence, KY Retail Value- $7.50
Rituals By Nature- Carnelian lip balm contains honey and you would not believe how amazing honey is for your lips. Again made of all awesome ingredients! Straight from Florence, KY Retail Value- $6
Our Local Box is $30 a month and cheaper if you get a 3 or 6 month subscription. The value of this box is $32 and it is always full sized products! I love that this box is a specific area and I feel like I got a little piece of Kentucky.
