Our Local Box- June 2013

I was very excited to see my Our Local Box arrive in the mail the other day. I love those boys from Kentucky that sent me another box to review. So what yummy things came out of Kentucky this month?

As a little bonus this month there is a recipe card (not pictured) that looks amazing! The recipe is for Braised Beef Kalbi with Soft Grits and Scallions. The best part is that the recipe calls for all the items in your box. So what are the items that make this recipe?

Bluegrass Soy Sauce Company- From Louisville, KY this soy sauce is aged in repurposed bourbon barrels. Yummy! Retail Value- $6

Bourbon Barrel Foods- Pure Cane Sweet Sorghum straight from Louisville, KY. But what exactly is sorghum? It is a syrup that can be used in the place of molasses, honey, or syrups. Retail Value- $12

Sunflower Sundries- Grits! Grits! Grits! What southerner doesn't love grits? Well me, but my fiancé does! Organic Heirloom Hickory King Corn Grits from Mt. Olive, KY. Retail Value- $5

Bourbon Barrel Foods- Bourbon Smoked Pepper from Louisville, KY. Pepper smoked in Bourbon Barrels? Yes Please! Retail Value- $9

What a great mix of items this month. And I love that they sent a recipe that uses all the items. I can't wait to try it out. So a 1 month subscription is $30 and the value of this box is $32. You get more than what you are paying for and it is all yummy Kentucky stuff!

Little Passports- June 2013 GIVEAWAY!

I want to start by saying thank you to Little Passports for sending me a box to review. I love being able to provide you with new boxes and it is people like this that make it possible. What is Little Passports all about?

This is a very cool concept cause it reminds me of "Where in the World is Carmen Sandiego". Do you guys remember that game from when we were kids? So there are two different subscriptions that you can sign up for: the world edition (ages 5-10) and the US edition (ages 7-12). So I opted for the world edition which teaches you about a new country each month.

How cute is this suitcase that came? It hold all the maps and stickers and things that come each month. This is what came in the box for the first month.

There is access to online games and more and you follow Sam and Sofia around the world learning about different countries.

So this post just gets better...

Little Passports is offering a 3 month subscription to one lucky reader!

All you have to do is go to Little Passports website here and sign up to receive their newsletter at the bottom of the page. Once you have done that email me at lovemysubscriptions@gmail.com and let me know you have signed up for the newsletter. I am going off the honor system so remember if you lie Karma will get you.

This contest will end next Friday June28th so make sure to get the newsletter soon.

Green Grab Bag- May 2013

I was very excited when Green Grab Bag sent me a box to review. I am not one to seek out organic or vegan products but I usually love them. So what does Green Grab Bag include? Natural, organic and vegan beauty samples. The box costs $15 each month with free shipping. But I found something very cool on their website. You can curate your own box! They have a big variety of samples and you can pick and choose what you want. Those boxes cost $15-35 depending on how many samples you choose. They have this cool meter on the site that tells you when you are getting close to filling up your box or gone over to the next price point. Very Cool!

This is what my May box contained. I highly recommend you check out Green Grab Bag's website here. So what are all of these good looking items?

Sisters of the Black Moon by Naked Eye Beauty- Two samples of essential oil blends. The scents are Moonshine and Ether. Retail Value- I couldn't get a true value but I think it is around $4.

Blum Naturals- I am super excited about these Cleansing Towelettes. Why? Because they are for combination and oily skin! It is so hard to find products for oily skin and I am excited to get these individually wrapped towelettes. Retail Value- $3.99

Hydra Soap- This is a Chill Pill bath fizzy. The scent is Waterfall which is part of the Fantasy Collection. Retail Value- $7

Alaska Glacial Mud Co.- These two samples are a mineral mud mask which is supposed to help detox and purify your skin. Retail Value- $7

Metropolis Soap Co.- These soaps are all made with 12 ingredients or less and they are amazing for your skin. A full bar is $7.99. This is a sliver to sample so I guessed on the price. Retail Value- $1

Alikay Naturals- Leave-in Conditioner! Do I need to say more? I love leave-in conditioners! Retail Value- $1.62

I was impressed with the value of this box. The cost is $15 with free shipping and the value is $24.61!

Do you get Green Grab Bag? If so, what do you love/not love about it? I would love to hear you comments below!
