I hope you live in a part of the world where the weather is as beautiful as it is here in Charleston, SC! I am not sure where BoxyCharm is located but they must being having some great weather because the theme of this month's box is "Strike A Pose". They want you to use the items in this month's box to go out on the town and strike a pose!

This is a very colorful mix of items that are perfect for Spring. Most of them are not quite my style but I have some friends that are more colorful than I am. I like to stick to more neutral colors. BoxyCharm gives you 5 full size items each month and this month is a great mix.

Thierry Mugler- March 2014

I stumbled upon a new subscription service a few weeks ago and thought I would give it a try. It is called Thierry Mugler and you get a box of perfume samples and deluxe samples each quarter. The cost is $50 a year and you also get a personal shopping concierge to help you with fragrance purchases from their website. All of the fragrances are designed and made by Thierry Mugler.

So I am going to work these posts a little bit different. I am going to share the info about each fragrance and not try to price them out. Each box is $12.50 and that is a great price for new fragrances.

Beauty Box 5 - March 2014

I am pretty sure I am a little addicted because I added Beauty Box 5 back to my list of monthly subscriptions. I just love getting those boxes in the mail each month and Beauty Box 5 is a great box!

Tree Hut- I am a sucker for a good body butter. I think they work so much better than a typical lotion. The coconut lime scent makes me feel like I am on a beach in Hawaii. Retail Value- $2

H2O+- This hand and nail cream richly moisturizes and protects hands from all mother nature has to throw at them. Retail Value- $2

Swissco- This facial pad cleans with two different sides. A soft terry side for cleaning and a natural loofah for exfoliating. Retail Value- $2

Bellapierre-  This make up base can be used as a concealer, illuminator and an eyeshadow primer. Retail Value- $18.99

It is very apparent here in Charleston, SC that Spring is in the air. My blue car is green from the Spring addition of yellow pollen. But that also means that it is time to bust out the spring clothes and change those toes to a fun pink color!

I hope everyone is enjoying the face lift that my blog received over the weekend. I have been receiving all these beauty products for a few years and since I have been using them to make myself more beautiful I thought my blog needed to be more beautiful too. Starlooks- February 2014

Good morning to all my blog readers!

There are a lot of monthly subscription boxes that I feel give the impression of being about make up but then when the box actually arrives it is full of hair care, skin care and a tiny bit of make up. But that is why I love Starlooks! They are a cosmetic company that has a subscription box of just their make up products. FYI...I tried to get Burts Bees to do a monthly box and they turned me down. That is just a side note that has nothing to do with the current subscription box but I thought I would share.

Cream Eyeshadow- This is a pretty lavender color called "Phaser" but I can't seem to find it on the website. Maybe it is a Starlooks box exclusive! Retail Value- $14 (guess based on other products)

Pigment- This pigment can be used as eye shadow or mixed with lip gloss for an added dimension. The possibilities are endless! Retail Value- $17

Lipstick- I think Starlooks lipsticks last a long time and their colors are so pretty. Retail Value- $12

Band- This is a soft headband to keep your hair out of your face as you wash it or just to wear out. This is a bonus item!

Starlooks makes such a great product and I love getting my Starlooks Box each month. The value of this month's box is $43. That is a great deal for the $18 (box plus shipping) price tag!

Taste Guru- February 2014

I found a deal online for Taste Guru and decided to give it a chance. Taste Guru is a monthly subscription box that delivers gluten free food items to your door each month. I do not normally eat gluten free but it never hurts to eat healthier.

 

 

As a whole I thought it was a good mix of items. I have to be honest that I have not tried any of the items yet but I am going to over the next week or so. I am very interested in trying the gluten free pasta.

 

Dr. McDougall's- These are two soups (Pad Thai and Tortilla with baked chips) that a vegan, gluten free, BPA free and low fat. Retail Value- $3.00

Rocky Mountain Popcorn Company- Poplets! So basically Poplets are baked corn nuts. I am a big fan of corn nuts so I am hoping these are just as good. They are gluten free, nut free, Non-GMO and natural. Retail Value- $1

Straw Propeller Gourmet Foods- This hot oatmeal apple crisp is loaded with apples, walnuts and white chocolate chips. Retail Value- $2.50

Snapz- I love fruit and I love dried fruit so I am excited about these dried apple crisps. They are nut free, gluten free, 100% natural and fat free. Retail Value- $1.50

Snikiddy- These look like tortilla chips but made out of vegetables. They have a full serving of veggies in one ounce. Plus they are gluten free, vegan, 100% natural, kosher and Non-GMO. Retail Value- $1

Viviana- I love that the pasta came with a Pesto Linguini recipe. I am not a big fan of pesto but my husband is so I will make it for him. This pasta is dairy free, nut free, gluten free and vegan. Retail Value- $6.99

The cost of this box for a 3 month subscription is $34 a month. The cost goes down if you buy a longer subscription. The value of this box is $16. That is not a good value at all dollar for dollar but it is still a great way to try new foods in the gluten free marketplace.

Birchbox- Finds Box

Don't get me wrong...I like Birchbox. But I feel like they are going to such high end samples that I am never going to buy. I like to get samples of products that I am actually going to spend money on if I like it. I am not going to go spend $100 on a small container of moisturizer so I was very happy to see Birchbox come out with this box. The Birchbox Finds box is full of "drug store" favorites.

I thought all these products were ones that I could use on a daily basis. I like getting the different brands to try but I like the trustee old favorites too!

 

Biore- This is a 4 pack of single use self heating one minute face masks with natural charcoal. Retail Value- $7.99

Sally Hansen- I think this color is too light for me but I am sure I have a friend that will like it. It is a base coat, top coat and color gel polish in one that will last for 10 days. Retail Value- $7.99

Covergirl- I am always a sucker for a good mascara! The wand is double sided to give you intensity and volume that is designed for big sexy bombshell eyes. Retail Value- $11.99

Nivea- This lip care has a moisture strip in the center and color on the outside to give you a beautiful moisturized look. Retail Value- $4.99

John Frieda-  I am hoping this frizz ease product that is full of argan oil will not leave my hair greasy like the bottle says. It is designed to leave your hair soft, smooth and shiny. Retail Value- $9.99

Covergirl- I am not usually a fan of eye shadow I have to put on with my fingers but I am going to give this one a shot because it says it lasts for 12 hours. Retail Value- $6

Rimmel London- This lip gloss lasts for 6 hours and gives you a 3-D effect. I love the color is called "Popcorn for 2". Retail Value- $4.99

Some of these colors are not quite for me but overall I thought this box was a great collection. IT had a great mix of hair care, skin care and make up. I think that is something that Birchbox has been missing for a long time.

 

The value of this box is just over $50. That is a great deal for the $18 price tag. There are still plenty left so go to Birchbox and get yours today!

I have never been one of those girls that hates Valentine's Day. If I did not have a boyfriend then I just let the holiday pass without a fuss. And that has seemed to be the universal theme for beauty subscription boxes this month. I am so glad to announce that Birchbox is different. They sent out a red carpet worthy box with the theme of "Step and Repeat" in honor of the award show season!

I am not one to watch the award shows...any of them but I can appreciate the beauty that goes into those nights. The make up and wardrobes are amazing. Hopefully some of these items will help me look like one of those stars (lol).

Ipsy's My Glam Bag- February 2014

It is almost Spring here in Charleston, SC and I think this bag from Ipsy's My Glam Bag is full of must have items for Spring. The colors are nice and bright and I feel ready for the 80 degree weather!

Even the bag screams "Bring on the warm weather!". Plus as a bonus it is almost all makeup and only 1 hair care item. This is collection from BoxyCharm is a perfect representation for Valentine's Day. The theme is "Sweetest Box" and I think everything in it is so sweet. It is everything you need to get gussied up and have a fabulous night on the town with your sweetheart or the girls!

I love that the box came with red, pink and white crinkly paper and wrapped up with the XOXO heart. I felt like it was a little gift from someone special. And it was filled with lots of great cosmetics!

Eyelashi- I am a HUGE fan of false eyelashes and I am hoping this pair does not disappoint me. They are hand tied! Retail Value- $9

NARS- This nail polish looks black in the picture but it is a dark purple. I am not sure this is a shade I am excited about getting when it is almost Spring outside. I guess I will save it for the fall. Retail Value- $ 19

Mirabella- This eye definer pencil is top quality but the gold color is not my style. Retail Value- $19

I liked that this box had a little bit of everything. It had eyes, lips and nails! This monthly box is such a good value at $21. The value of this months box is $86!

It has been a while since I received Starlooks Box and that is just what unemployment will do to your subscription services. Birchbox- January 2014

It's Go Time! That is the theme of the first Birchbox of the new year.  Time to get going and make something amazing from 2014!

I have been unsure about Birchbox for the last 6 months or so because I have not been too happy about the lack of make up in the boxes. It is a new year and a new attitude. Maybe I was thinking about Birchbox as a make up collection and it really isn't. And they don't advertise as one so I have been thinking about it all wrong. This is a lifestyle box and they do that well!

Fekkai- I love travel shampoo and conditioners and I love Fekkai products so this is perfect! It is going straight into my travel bag for this weekend. Retail Value (both)- $10

Coastal Scents- I am not a huge fan of this brand but I love the colors. Retail Value- $5

Harvey Prince-  I like this scent called Journey. It makes me want to go on a far away vacation! Retail Value- $1

Ipsy's My Glam Bag- January 2014

So it is a new year and I am excited to see what Ipsy has in store for us this year. One of the things that I love about Ipsy is the bonus offers that come in with each brand. They do not sell any of their products in the bag on their website so this is a great way to get more of what you love with a great deal. They do have a point system and you earn points by referring friends to the subscription.

I have to admit that I love getting my items in a bag each month instead of a box I just throw away but I am getting a little stockpile of them and not sure what to do with them.  I have given a ton away but I still have more. I guess there are worse problems to have in life!

I was glad to see that I get to start the new year with a little love from Be A Bombshell cosmetics as well as some brands I am not familiar with as much as others. This is the year to make the best choices for your subscription boxes and if you are not getting Boxy Charm I think you need to add it to your collection for this year!

Model Co- I am not that great at gel eyeliners but this one comes with a built in brush so that should make it super easy for someone like me. Retail Value- $22

Reveille and Reveille- This body polish is made from brown sugar and sold on Etsy. I love that is comes from an Etsy shop. Retail Value- $16.75

Be A Bombshell- This light colored eye shadow (Birthday Suit) is a great base color to help lighten up your eyes. Retail Value- $14

Sparitual- This is a beautiful shimmer nail lacquer. It is vegan and DBP free. Retail Value- $12

Ofra- This color of liquid lipstick is going to be perfect to have on a daily basis. It is a great "on the go" light shade. Retail Price- $15

This is one of the best value boxes I have seen in a long time from anyone. The value is $79.75. That is great for the $21 price.
